POSITION: Associate Producer/1st Assistant Director

I was hired to work as a the "1st Assistant Director" on a series of five Doritos and Pepsi commercials. We shot the commercials on 35mm film over the course of 5 days. We shot at Riverside Studios, Hollywood Air, and a number of other locations.

I started work on the project the day after stepping off of the Switchboard shoot. Our production offices for this shoot were based out of Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA. It was nice to be on the lot for the first time and I got the chance to walk around and explore a bit. I loved what I saw and I hope to spend a lot more time there in the future.

Day 1 of shooting started out slow. The camera rental house took too long checking out the equipment to our camera department which resulted in the Camera being an hour late to set. After that we started shooting in full gear and did our best to recoup the lost time.

Day 2 & 3 we shot at Hollywood Air which is a studio that is tailored towards looking like an airport. We shot one scene inside the body of a commercial airliner and another in the security checkpoint area. We had 2 dogs on set as part of the commercial and they did awesome.

Day 4 we shot at Riverside Studios which is tailored towards looking like a court house/jail/prison. We shot our scene in the police interrogation room.

Day 5 we shot on the street at two different locations. Pretty straightforward.

CREW
This is where I usually feature crew members that stand out to me or I feel leave an impact while also excelling at their job.

I hired my good friend and talented actress Lauren Byrnes to work as my 2nd Assistant Director. She had never worked in this position before, but after working with her on the Low Fidelity feature film, I had a feeling that she would be very good at it. Boy was I right. After teaching her the ins and outs of the position, she took the ball and ran with it. Everybody was extremely happy with her.

I was pleasantly surprised to have Jamie MacPherson show up on my set again. I worked with her as well on the Low Fidelity feature film and she always has a way of brightening up a set.

Our Production Manager on the shoot was Robert Wise. He was great to work with and always kept a calm/cool attitude. He was awesome to work with and I look forward to working with him again.

Our Gaffer on the shoot was David Adams. He was a blast to work with and has a great sense of humor. He has a way of lightening the mood on set. He always made me laugh and usually got along great with everybody. His lighting skills are great as well.

Our Makeup Artist on the shoot was Julie Sandberg. She was fun to work with as well. She did a great job with the special fx makeup.
